Starting Somewhere

This is the beginning of a hopefully fruitful blog mainly here to hold me accountable while striving for my goals. I’ve been skating around the idea of learning to code for a while now, I’ve gone through basic courses on a few apps and enjoy the mental stimulation it brings. Overall the concept is very overwhelming though, there are so many languages I could learn and places to begin. I just need a solid strategy for planning and a general timeline for where to begin.

After a lot of research, I have come to the conclusion of starting my coding journey with Python. My first milestone is to build a simple app, and I mean real simple. It’s hard to not overcomplicate this plan. I feel as though I have many ideas as to what could make a good app, but I’m also trying to acknowledge my own lack of ability. Many videos I fear over-simplify the process, give me visions of grandeur as to what I could create. And of course eventually, I do want to create those visions. Of course, that is what I strive for. But for now, I must dumb things down. Nothing will kill my drive faster than getting stuck and confused due to overcomplication. I’m going to treat it like trying new food for the first time, getting more adventurous with my pallet. Small bites.

Tomorrow I start with a very palatable “Python for Beginners”. I cannot get anywhere until I start better understanding the concept of coding. I am fully expecting my road to change as my knowledge grows, but for now this is where I shall begin.
